First of all regarding a comment from someone above, prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas. It is legal in the state of Nevada but Clark County, which Las Vegas is in, passed a law making it illegal in Clark County.

Jobs: There are a lot of jobs compared to other cities. However, the job market has slowed down here in Las Vegas. There is a lot of work needed to get a job at a hotel/casino such as gaming cards, health cards, etc… and you have to work whatever shift is available. It's not likely you will get the shift you want for a few years. The plus is the hotels/casinos pay well. Of course we have lots of jobs outside the hotel industry that are just like everywhere else. Lots of jobs available in the medical field or in education.

Cost of Living is actually lower than most major cities. I'm not saying it's cheap but compared to other large cities it is still affordable. Many households do work two jobs to have the quality of life they want. Las Vegas is cheaper than the Los Angeles area, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Seattle and those are the larger cities in nearby states.

Traffic…well doesn't it suck everywhere! But even on a heavy traffic day you can go from one side of town to another in an hour. On a good traffic day 20 minutes. The problem here is as the valley (yes it is a valley) grows so does the need for streets and freeways so road construction is constant.

Weather: of course we are in the desert so be prepared for the extreme heat in the summer. Just like you need to know how to deal with the cold you need to learn how to deal with the heat.

One thing to be aware of is Nevada is a Right to Live State. You can be fired for no reason, renters can be evicted with a 24 hour notice, etc…

A big plus…no state tax.

And there is always something to do here.
